Biography

Raffaello Gambogi (1874–1943) was an Italian painter known for his contributions to late 19th and early 20th-century art. He was associated with the Italian Divisionist movement and became recognized for his depictions of landscapes, interiors, and portraiture.

Born in the Tuscan town of Montefoscoli, Gambogi studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. His style initially reflected the influence of Realism, but he later transitioned to the Divisionist technique, embracing its emphasis on the use of color and light to create vibrant and luminous compositions.

The Divisionist method, characterized by the application of small, distinct dots or strokes of pure color, was Gambogi's primary technique.
