Thérèse Schwartze (December 20, 1851 – December 23, 1918) was a Dutch portrait painter known for her elegant and skillfully executed portraits. Born in Amsterdam, Schwartze came from a family of artists, with her father, Johann Georg Schwartze, being a portraitist as well. She received early artistic training at the Quellinus School, where her talent became evident, and later studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam.

Thérèse Schwartze's artistic focus was primarily on portraiture, and her exceptional skill in capturing the likeness and personality of her subjects garnered widespread acclaim. She was particularly sought after by the Dutch elite and European nobility, establishing herself as a leading portraitist in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
