Richard Redgrave (1804–1888) was an English artist, educator, and influential figure in the 19th-century art world. Born in Pimlico, London, Redgrave played a significant role in the development of the Victorian art scene, not only as a painter but also as a prominent administrator and advocate for art education.

Redgrave received his artistic training at the Royal Academy of Arts, where he studied under Thomas Lawrence and Henry Fuseli. He gained recognition as a painter of historical and genre scenes, exhibiting regularly at the Royal Academy. His early works were often characterized by their romantic and narrative qualities.

In addition to his career as a painter, Redgrave became deeply involved in the administrative and educational aspects of the arts.
