Jules Joseph Lefebvre (1836–1911) was a distinguished French academic painter known for his expertise in portraiture and historical genre scenes during the 19th century. Born in Tournan-en-Brie, France, Lefebvre displayed early artistic promise and went on to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

Lefebvre's artistic career was marked by his proficiency in academic techniques and his success within the French academic system. He won the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1861, earning the opportunity to further his studies at the French Academy in Rome.
