Biography

Joan Miró (1893–1983) was a pioneering Catalan Spanish painter, sculptor, and ceramicist known for his innovative and influential contributions to Surrealism and abstract art. Born in Barcelona, Spain, Miró's artistic journey spanned several decades, and his work evolved from early influences such as Fauvism and Cubism to his distinctive style that blended abstraction, symbolism, and a childlike sense of wonder.

Miró initially studied business, but his passion for art led him to enroll at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. In the early 1920s, he moved to Paris, where he became associated with Surrealist circles and developed friendships with artists like André Masson and Max Ernst.
