Biography
Georgia O'Keeffe (1887–1986) was an American artist, considered a pioneer of American Modernism and one of the most significant and celebrated painters of the 20th century. Renowned for her unique and innovative style, she is best known for her striking and groundbreaking interpretations of flowers, New Mexico landscapes, and abstract forms.

Born in Wisconsin, O'Keeffe began her artistic journey studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and later at the Art Students League in New York. Her distinctive artistic vision began to take shape in the 1920s, influenced by Precisionism, modernism, and her own evolving creative instincts.

She gained widespread acclaim for her large-scale close-up paintings of flowers, which provided a new and abstract perspective on natural forms. O'Keeffe's flower series, notably her magnified and highly detailed depictions of blossoms, were a groundbreaking exploration of color, form, and abstraction.

O'Keeffe's move to New Mexico in the late 1920s influenced a significant shift in her work. The desert landscapes and adobe architecture became prominent subjects in her art. She captured the Southwestern landscapes with bold colors, stark contrasts, and simplified forms, bringing a new dimension to her artistic repertoire.

One of her iconic works, "Black Iris III" (1926), exemplifies her style with a magnified flower that reveals intricate details and vibrant color, showcasing her mastery in capturing the essence of nature.

Her distinct style, characterized by her use of color, form, and composition, cemented her as a pioneering figure in American art. O'Keeffe's works continue to captivate audiences for their bold and innovative approach to art, influencing generations of artists and leaving an enduring legacy in the history of American Modernism.
