Franz Xaver Kosler (1864-1905) was an Austrian painter known for his Orientalist paintings, often depicting scenes from Egypt and the Balkans. Born in Vienna, Austria in 1864, Kosler displayed an early aptitude for art and received training at the municipal painting school under Christian Griepenkerl. He then transferred to the Academy of Fine Arts where, from 1884 to 1885, he attended the "Special School for History Painting", studying with Leopold Carl Müller.
