Biography

Frank Holl (1845–1888) was a Victorian-era British painter known for his emotionally charged and socially conscious works. He was part of a generation of artists who engaged with the pressing social issues of their time, using art as a means of commentary on the human condition.

Holl was born into an artistic family; his father, Francis Holl, was a well-known engraver, and his brother, Henry Holl, was a successful landscape painter. Frank Holl began his artistic education at the Royal Academy Schools in London, where he honed his skills and developed his unique approach to painting.
