Florent Willems (1823–1905) was a Belgian painter known for his exquisite portraits and historical genre scenes. Born in Liège, Belgium, on October 8, 1823, Willems emerged as a prominent artist during the 19th century, a period marked by significant artistic and social developments.

Willems received his artistic training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Liège, where he honed his skills in portraiture and historical painting. He later traveled to Paris to further his studies and immerse himself in the thriving art scene of the French capital.

His oeuvre primarily focused on two genres: portraiture and historical scenes. In portraiture, Willems demonstrated a remarkable ability to capture the likeness and personality of his sitters.
