Biography
Evert Jan Boks (1838-1914) was a Dutch painter known for his captivating genre scenes and portraits. Born in Beekbergen, Netherlands, in 1838, Boks displayed a natural aptitude for art from a young age. Despite initial aspirations in business, his artistic talents led him to pursue a career in painting.Boks's artistic training began at the Hogereburgerschool in Het Loo, where he honed his drawing skills. He later enrolled at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where he studied under the guidance of renowned painter Nicaise De Keyser. De Keyser's influence instilled in Boks a deep appreciation for the Flemish tradition of genre painting, which often depicted everyday life with a keen eye for detail and a touch of humor.
