Ernest Albert Waterlow (1850–1919) was an English landscape painter and etcher known for his contributions to the Victorian and Edwardian art scenes. Born on June 24, 1850, in London, Waterlow demonstrated an early aptitude for art and studied at the Royal Academy Schools, where he developed his skills as a painter and printmaker.Waterlow's artistic career spanned several decades, during which he achieved acclaim for his landscapes, particularly scenes of rural life and the English countryside. His work is often associated with the revival of interest in landscape painting during the late 19th century.
Waterlow's landscapes were characterized by their meticulous attention to detail, capturing the nuances of light and atmosphere. His paintings often depicted tranquil scenes of rural life, picturesque cottages, and meandering rivers, reflecting the influence of the Barbizon School and the broader movement towards naturalism.
In addition to his skills as a painter, Waterlow was an accomplished etcher.
