Biography
Charles William Wyllie RBA ROI (18 February 1853 – 28 July 1923) was an English painter known for his marine and landscape paintings. He was born in 1853 in London, England. He was educated at the Royal Academy Schools. He began painting in the 1870s, and he quickly gained a reputation as a talented painter. His work was widely admired for its realism and its use of light and shadow.

Wyllie was particularly interested in painting scenes of the sea and the countryside. He painted many scenes of the Thames River, and he also painted scenes of the English coast and the French coast. His landscapes are characterized by their realistic depiction of detail and their sense of atmosphere.

In addition to landscapes, Wyllie also painted portraits, still lifes, and genre scenes. His portraits are known for their psychological insight and their sensitive portrayal of the sitter's personality.
