Biography

Tthe British painter Anthony Sands (1806-1883) was a landscape and marine painter who was known for his realistic and detailed paintings. He was also a member of the Norwich School of painters.

Sands was born in Norwich, England, in 1806. He began his career as a sign painter, but he soon turned to landscape painting. He was influenced by the work of the Dutch masters, and his paintings often feature windmills, rivers, and coastal scenes.

Sands exhibited his work at the Royal Academy in London and at other major galleries. He was a successful painter, and his work is now held in public and private collections around the world.

Sands died in Norwich in 1883 at the age of 76. He is considered to be one of the most important British landscape painters of the 19th century.
