Biography

William Blake Richmond (1842–1921) was a British painter, sculptor, and designer associated with the Aesthetic Movement and the Symbolist movement. Born in London, Richmond was the son of the portrait painter George Richmond and grew up in an artistic environment that influenced his early interest in the arts.

Richmond studied at the Royal Academy Schools, where he developed his skills as a painter. He gained recognition for his talent and was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal for Historical Painting at the age of 20. Throughout his career, Richmond's artistic pursuits spanned various mediums, including painting, sculpture, and design.

In the 1860s, Richmond became associated with the Aesthetic Movement, a cultural and artistic movement that emerged in Britain.
