Pietro Antonio Rotari (1707–1762) was an Italian Rococo painter known for his exceptional talent in portrait painting, particularly his depictions of elegant and charming women. Born in Verona, Italy, Rotari achieved fame and success during the 18th century, earning commissions from European royalty and aristocracy.

Rotari began his artistic training in Verona under the guidance of the painter Antonio Balestra. In his early career, he gained recognition for his skill in painting religious and historical subjects. However, Rotari's true success and international acclaim came with his specialization in portraiture.

He moved to Venice in the mid-18th century, where he flourished as a portraitist. Rotari's portraits were characterized by a delicate and refined style, often capturing the grace and beauty of his female subjects.
