Charles Reiffel (1862–1942) was an American painter associated with the California Impressionism movement, known for his dynamic landscapes and scenes depicting the American West. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Reiffel began his artistic career as an apprentice in a lithography firm. His talent soon garnered attention, leading him to study at the San Francisco Art Institute and later in Munich, Germany.

While in Munich, Reiffel was exposed to European art movements, including Post-Impressionism and Fauvism, which significantly influenced his style. He returned to the United States and settled in San Diego, California, where he became an integral part of the burgeoning California Impressionist community.

Reiffel's paintings often featured the rugged landscapes of the American West, particularly scenes from California and the Southwest.
